Nesting Diaries
The adults have not been observed on the posts since 3/12/2015. Hopefully they are building a new nest close by.
A pair of osprey were observed perched on the remaining posts of the fallen duck blind. So sad.
The duck blind where this nest was located in 2014 fell into the river the week of 3/9/2015.
Two chicks on nest. One adult nearby. Both chicks flew off nest. One practiced aerial maneuvers by chasing terns that were passing through their area. Seemed the same one was possible trying to fish, but failed. The second chick seemed to have a slight problem landing back at the nest as it seemed to misjudged the wind and got blown away from its initial landing point.
By kayak -- two chicks observed with adult on nearby post -- photo posted. All flew off blind upon approach. All returned after I left. No feeding.
