Nesting Diaries

The female came off the nest and sat in a nearby tree preening. The male brought in nesting material. I have moved permanently from the area but was back for vacation. Best of luck to this pair!

I now believe incubation has been concurring since I first suspected it in early March. We will see.

Female sitting on nest. Male brought fish.

Both Osprey on nest at different times. Female very vocal and left nest briefly and returned with nesting material.

It appears this pair might be incubating eggs. Today, an Osprey was laying in the nest when another Osprey landed in a nearby lightpole. I believe this was the female, who then flew to the nest and took over the incubation.

2 stick deliveries

1st chick has fledged. Got to see it fly from one light pole to another, then back to nest. Very exciting. Chick's Mom was close by and watched everything.

Definitely 2 chicks in nest. One is much larger and dominant. Observed mother Osprey delivering fish about 4:00pm today.

I observed this nest on a visit to Tampa on May 23. Three Osprey observed (pictured). I will monitor for another week, then my son will continue to observe.
