Nesting Diaries
The first adult osprey returned on April 19/23.
in Early May both adult osprey were seen at the nest, always one adult was there.
Saw our first visual evidence of young osprey on July 1st.
There were 3 very hungry demanding youngsters in the nest.
But at the end of July we noticed only 2 young osprey in the nest.
one young bird was very vocal
Also evidently this young osprey got itself into trouble when out fishing. It was trapped in a water source on the industrial site.
Luckily it was rescued by workers on site and our local SPCA
Young osprey safely returned to nest site.
The last osprey was seen on September 13/23
the osprey pair returned at the end of April/early May to this nest site.
they appeared to have mated and laid eggs.
weather was unseasonably cold in mid May.
pair seemed to have abandoned this nest site
at the end of May.
in August one adult osprey was seen for a few hours at the nest site.
2nd year that no live young have been born.
this nest was moved from its original site in Feb. 2016.

this nest was moved from its original site inside the camp area amongst ATCO trailers to outside the camp area. A new pole was put up and the original nest was moved to the new metal pole site.
the osprey returned and occupied the nest, a pair by the end of April.
however by the end of May and June 1st, eagles predated on the nest and the osprey left.
no young were raised in this nest this year.
will have to wait and see if the osprey come back again in 2018 to this nest site
this nest is in an industrial camp setting.
a successful breeding year again for the osprey
there were 3 young in this nest. one was much older than the other two. all fleged. but two of the young were found on the ground near the nest. they were rescued and sent to Prince Rupert for bird rehab and then sent onto OWL in Delta for the winter

the young ospreys have fledged!
we saw one of the young practice flying around the nest area. the other young and adults were gone from the nest site
this nest is in the middle of an industrial camp. there are ATCO trailers all around it!

now a camp for 1000 workers around the nest site. many tall structures have been removed from the area. busy industrial site

Aug.4/13: 2 adults & 1 young all eating in nest
this nest is on a high metal post in the middle of an old industrial site. they are developing an atco trailer camp around it.
there is one young and possible of two.
