Nest is located overlooking Honey Bee Golf Club, 2500 South Independence Blvd. VA Beach, VA. 23456 in power line tower. Existing nest had Osprey rebuilding 3.7.12
The original nest was removed by Dominion Energy in 2020 in order to replace the power pole structure. The pair was observed 4.4.21 bringing in nest material and also mating nearby.
08/24/2014 - The female fledgling still refuses to leave. Though she is able to fly she is still food begging at the nest. As my photo shows her crop is full. An adult is also present near the nest. The sibling left over a month ago.
One of the juveniles , even though fledged, refuses to leave. She just sits on the nest loudly begging for food. The adult female is still also present sitting in a nearby tree. Photo of chick on side of nest.
Observed male bring in fish to nest. Then able to observe female feeding 2 apparently healthy chicks. First time I was able to determine if there were young in the nest due to the height of the tower.
Both osprey returned to this nest location on March 9, 2014. The 2013 nest was completely destroyed in early March by strong winds, so this osprey pair is having to start rebuilding their nest from scratch.
