Observed the male flying from game farm vicinity back to nest carrying materials. 5.12.17

04/28/2017 by AOC
They are both on very top. One is calling constantly. One moves off and the calling one does too. It appears to be eating or trying to get something off talon, looked more like a bird than fish.

04/27/2017 by AOC
The one that I believe is the female seems to have darker wings & and brighter breast then the other one. 4.27.17

04/18/2017 by AOC
Copulation sighted this morning. 4.18.17

04/11/2017 by turtleguy
Two ospreys on cell tower. One had just returned with a fish and started eating. Second osprey perched on top of central tower column. There are now 3 or 4 sticks laying about on the upper platform, obviously having fallen from attempt to place on top of central column. Nothing resembling a nest yet. This may take awhile. Neither bird seems very enthusiastic.

Turtleguy's observations match with mine. I've added a few photos I took on July 18, 2015. About a week earlier I observed a parent coming to next while fledgling called to it from the nest. This is a T-Mobile cell tower and I wish a webcam could be put up there as we have to wait until the chicks are big to see them. 2 of the photos show a fledgling flexing and practicing in nest.

07/31/2015 by turtleguy
Both juvs are still alive. One has fledged and was seen on lower portion of cell tower today. The other juv appears to have not fledged yet, but should any day. Will update fledgling number when second bird is observed off nest.

Prolonged observation of nest today finally resulted in brief glimpses of two nestlings. Unable to determine if there might be more at this time. Forested suburban surroundings and heavy traffic on area roads prevent observations from far enough away to see into nest very well.

06/24/2015 by turtleguy
First observation of this nest in almost a month. Female on nest. Due to height of cell tower and limited observation locations, unable to see how many nestlings are in the nest. I need to catch a feeding event to be able to see any young birds.

05/03/2015 by turtleguy
1650 - One osprey down low in the nest. Only the top of the head and tail feathers can be seen. I saw this same position yesterday as a drive-by observation, but I was unable to make a prolonged observation. Today, I watched for 10 minutes and the bird did not move. Incubation is assumed as of yesterday

04/28/2015 by turtleguy
1250 - Both ospreys on the nest. Unable to see if incubation is in progress but one seems to be wiggling down into incubation position. 1305 - both ospreys standing on nest. 1307 - Copulation, after which female settled back down into the nest where all I could see was the top of her head. Seems low in nest with flat back. Will wait until tomorrow to make sure she is incubating.

Note for AOC. I see we are both following this nest. I would like to coordinate with you for continued observations. Please email me at turtleguy1@comcast.net. I live in UP. Thx

No incubation yet. The nest has been added to considerably, and is now approximately a foot taller, with the top of the cell tower mast no longer visible protruding up through the center of the nest. Due to the crossbars of the cell tower vanes, direct observation of the nest is difficult.
