Nesting Diaries

Observed one young bird on the nest. Did not see any other adults or other fledgling anywhere in the area which is unusual. The one on the nest was not calling. It was just standing, turning and looking around the area. Hope all is still well.

Only one fledgling at the nest today. Saw one adult perched on a power line further away but no sign of the other adult and fledgling. Still a very active family nest.

One adult and one fledling in the nest. Other adult and fledgling possibly nearby as two osprey were flying together nearby over the river. Adult was eating and fledgling was facing into the constant breeze.

I saw one adult and both chicks today. The adult alone was feeding and the two chicks were standing up in the nest. Getting larger but still look like chicks. Feathers definitely starting to come in. Chicks never fed. Just looked around. I was glad to see them both. Observed about noon today vs. 5-6pm which is more typical for me.

I saw all four osprey this trip, two chicks and two adults. One adult was perched nearby and flew away as I arrived. The second adult remained in the nest eating a fish. One chick was near the adult and was being fed by the adult periodically. I could see the back of the second chick and the down/feathers blowing in the wind but I never saw it move. I have video but no new pictures.

Saw both adults today. One adult was sitting on a wire a little south and above the nest. It was just watching the nest. As it flew off, the second adult flew up from the river and landed where it could watch the nest. I did not see the chicks this time. Adults never got on the nest.

One adult on the nest. Two chicks were present today. Both small. Was able to take a picture of each. One chick is slightly larger than the other. There is a set of steps that go up to the nest location because of where the nest is built and it only being about 20 feet from the ground.

Good size nest. One adult stayed in the nest. Second adult was on nearby power line, approximately 50 yds away.
