On July 10 I was notified by a boater that there was a dead osprey on this nest. I checked out with help from the Harbormaster at Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club, but did not attempt to remove because the remaining live chick would have likely jumped into the water. I went back today and removed the dead juvenile banded purple 50/A. Cause of death is not known, but not fishline or other material. In photo attached dead chick on left of green marker.
Banded two chicks ~ 40-45 days old. collected one addled egg for contaminants analysis at VIMS. One adult was present at the nest.
