Nest building underway. Several efforts by another osprey to move in were successfully stopped.

A bald eagle took one of the chicks and flew off with it. The osprey pair fought it in the air from above and below, but it just flew away with the chick. Sad, but that's nature.

A lot of activity for the last week We believe chicks have been hatched.

We returned from vacation to find the Osprey pair on the platform nest. Don't know the exact arrival date.

03/03/2013 by George
The pair arrived on time, rebuilt their nest, and fought off several other osprey intruders. At a point, we realized eggs had been laid, and a bird was hunkered down on them for about 10 days. Then the nest was abandoned. Over the last four years, there have been two successful hatches and two failed nests.
