Nest is likely inactive- it is not in very good condition and there was an absence of Ospreys in the nest. There were very small birds on the pole next to the one with the nest but it is unknown what kind they were.
While nest is not being occupied, it appears to be in good shape. No visible shrinkage to be seen, and the only pair of ospreys sighted in the area appear to have chosen another nest nearby.
Pair of ospreys sighted perched on nearby light posts, both of which were observed screeching to each other before flying off. Unclear as to whether pair is inhabiting 4555, 4552, or 1185. Nest is very small and not well developed.
One osprey present on the edge of the nest. After about 13 minutes the osprey took flight and perched right next to another osprey on the opposite light pole.
Male or female present, appears to be a female because of its flat-back behavior. It appears to be incubating, and it is preening its back. A male osprey was seen landing, dropping off some fish, and flying away.
Adult female and male seen sitting on the edge of the nest, ruffling their feathers and adjusting the nest. One of the ospreys flew away. The osprey that stayed circled the nest but did not land on the nest again.
A female osprey was occupying the nest. She was laying low in the center of the nest with a flat back, possibly incubating. On the adjacent light pole a male osprey sat, appearing to keep guard over the premises.
I saw two birds in the nest today as well! I am glad to see that both residents still appear to be happy and healthy and right at home! Maybe it is safe to assume that they are incubating because they were both sitting today as well. However, I did read that the parents rotate who sits on the nest during the incubation period so I am not confident that I can make that call. Either way, both clearly visible birds are still doing well!
