Nickname
2014 New Nest 4
Coordinates
(37.3779, -77.3267)
Substrate
Osprey Nest Platform
Description
This is the only osprey nest platform built that I know of in the main channel of the James River from the City of Richmond to Hopewell. I am pretty sure the pair of osprey that are in this nest used to nest in an old dead tree on the north side of the river that fell in the winter of 2013/2014.

Nesting Diaries

This pair came back in mid March and have been fighting a pair of Canada geese for nesting rights. The geese are on again - off again with the nest and are doing a good job keeping the osprey at bay.

Freshly built platform. No adult osprey present.

One adult present. No eggs. Appears to be a new platform.
