Nesting Diaries
Birds not seen at this location since early July, but many, many people came to park under the nest to watch them catching fish in May and June.
Finally here! For an early spring, the bird was later than last year. Saw one bird sitting on a tree overlooking the river, and close to the nest.
I drove past the nest today and one bird was present on a tree eating happily a fish!
No birds seen on or near the nest
There have been at least two very friendly birds seen all summer. At some point an adult was seen bringing a catch to at least two babies (maybe more).
One bird seen on a dead tree close to the nest, eating a catch
Drove past on March 30, no sign of birds. Mind you, we were calling for a snow storm that night, and it did occur.
No birds observed in or around the nest.
Two adult birds and two fledgelings observed, all sitting beside the nest. Welcome two new followers! :)
Bird observed on the nest. Second bird across the river in a tree sunning.
Birds arrived this year (2017) but did not nest here. There is an old platform about 20 m away in the trees, but I don't think they nested there. Unsure of why. No chicks observed in this location.
Osprey sitting on the wooden beam near the nest.
Female Osprey was sitting on the opposite side of the dual pole chirping to us when we stopped the truck. Beautiful, healthy and big bird.
The Christner Road nesting site has been in existence since at least 2006. This year the birds moved across the road to a taller, dual utility pole, closer to the road. The chick observed was making a lot of noise while looking at me beneath him :)
