Joanne V reports: It seems the osprey, probably the young, are still hanging around the nest which is typical behavior.

07/30/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: Adult osprey sitting high in nest. Looked like might be eating as head kept bobbing up and down. Couldn’t see any more osprey in the nest, but did hear one chirping nearby. Anyway, clearly the nest is not yet abandoned for the season.

07/15/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: Attached just 4 pics. Clearly there were 2 in the nest (can only really see this on one shot). Lots and lots of chatter. Sounded like more than 2, but couldn't ever see more than the 2. The one on the left showed above the nest just briefly. The one on the right kept changing positions the entire time I was there (about 30 minutes). No sightings of any osprey in flight today. No sign they plan to abandon the nest anytime real soon.

07/08/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: When I arrived this morning didn’t really see anything. Just as I’m about to leave , Osprey flies into nest with fish. Could see his (?) head in nest, but nothing else. After about 10 minutes with no additional activity, I left.

06/30/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: Lots of sounds from nest, often the rapid “alarm” type peeps. I thought I saw 2 heads on either side of nest and clearly there was a “tweet conversation.” I also saw 2 osprey flying gracefully in tandem a slight distance from nest. Note: We believe that both juveniles are now flying.

06/22/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: Only stayed about 10 minutes, but during that time mama was perched on edge of nest and kept bobbing head up and down. I wonder if she is feeding a nestling. Meanwhile , on branch down and to left of nest, sat an osprey whose head was clearly smaller than an adult. Couldn’t really get good look at eye color. Was medium sized. Didn’t spread wings at all so couldn’t judge wing span. I do think that may have been the first born and might be one other in nest.

06/17/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: Watched for an hour today. Saw one osprey fly to nest with a fish. Saw two osprey in the nest with butts up. NOTE: We think these two may be the juveniles who are feeding.

06/17/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V and Carol have revised some dates for this nest. We now think that there are two nestlings who may already be flying. One of the newest photos shows an osprey flying with a fish..first away from and then into the nest. We believe one of the photos actually shows two juveniles standing in the nest and eating a fish that was delivered to the nest. We are guessing that their first flights were about June 14th.

06/16/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: Stopped on way to gym so once again didn’t have my camera with lens. When I arrived Mama in nest making soft chirping sounds, tail side up extending above nest and moving up and down. Then I see 2 Osprey flying almost in tandem above and around the nest. They almost looked like they were gliding. Then one lands on branch to right of nest. Through my binoculars I could see it was smaller than mama, but bigger than a very new fledgling. It did have that fuzzy, almost hairy crowned top. The 3rd Osprey did not return while I was there.

06/09/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: You can see papa on branch to left and mama butt up on right in nest. Do think I heard little chirp in nest so think at least one baby. NOTE: Based on this observation we have listed one nestling, but we will update this as we verify the number. We simply guessed the eggs may have hatched about April 18

06/02/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: As I arrived I saw mama briefly reposition herself in the nest, but quickly she disappeared below into the nest and was no longer visible. Papa was not hanging around when I visited.

05/13/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: You can see papa chirping on the branch to the right of the nest. He is guarding mama. You can see her in the nest; she keeps changing positions. Also, when using the binoculars, it was clear that mama’s coloring is more tannish and papa’s is much darker, almost charcoal. Still cannot see any little heads. However, they may be very low in the nest.

05/09/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: Took binoculars to my nest this afternoon. I could see mama’s tail sticking up just above the top of the nest. Would not have been able to see that without the binoculars.

05/04/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: When I arrived I saw (presumably) mama on nest. The another flew into nest and actually stayed in nest. After a while, couldn't really see either one. But then I noticed a third osprey hanging out on a nearby branch. Positive I never saw either of the first 2 leave the nest. Tried hard to zoom in to see if there was a chick head, but it wasn't clear.

05/01/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: Swung by twice yesterday to check on my nest. Nothing visible in the morning, but mama was “happily” sitting high on her nest in the afternoon. The nest is so deep that I suspect many times when I don’t see mama, it is because she is low in the nest.

04/21/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: This afternoon when I arrived Mama was barely visible in nest; Papa nowhere to be seen. Then Mama stuck her head up enough to be seen. She sat there for a bit and then began to re-position herself in the nest. She did that a few times and then just resumed sitting quietly. By the time I left, maybe 10 minutes later, her head could no longer be seen.

04/18/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: Made a brief visit this morning. Shortly after I arrived I observed one osprey fly out of the nest, while the other osprey remained perched on a branch not far from the nest. This behavior indicates at least one egg has already hatched.

04/09/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: But this afternoon, when I arrived each Osprey was on a branch on either side of the nest (below nest to left; farther away from nest on the far right). After awhile, one at a time, they flew into the nest and they looked like they were having fun together. Then papa (I'm presuming) flies away. A little later, he returns with lots of nesting material. He stayed for awhile and flew away again. I waited to see if he would return with more nesting material, but finally gave up and left. Mom stayed in the nest.

04/08/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: When I arrived I saw no activity and heard no sounds. It wasn't until I walked around to the other side of the nest that I saw an osprey on a branch to the left of the nest. I kept trying to see into nest, but it was tough. So I don't know if mom was in there and was way down low, or if that was a head (and not a stick) or if the nest was unoccupied. I waited about 30 minutes, but no real visible activity inside the nest.

04/01/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: observed both osprey at the nest today.

03/21/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: An Osprey Love Story Mama in nest. Then dad arrives. They stay together in nest with lots of movement together. And then Papa flies away.

03/18/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: Clearly another Osprey down in nest unseen. They were having a conversation. Here you see Osprey with open beak making chatter. It is assumed that incubation started between the last visit and this one. We are guessing an incubation date of 3/12/19

03/10/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer Joanne V reports: As I arrived and started to get my camera ready, 2 Osprey flew out of nest. So guess this can be considered a pair sighting.

02/28/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer Joanne V reports: The osprey is bringing nest material to the nest. Then goes deep into the nest and is not visible for awhile and then emerges to just sit on the nest. I'm wondering if some of my quick "drive bys" when I thought the nest was empty, it was just that I couldn't see deep into it. Anyway, clearly an active nest. Still waiting to see mom and dad together in nest.

02/21/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer Joanne V reports: . When I arrived Osprey sitting on branch near nest. About 10 minutes later, she went into the nest and began flapping her wings inside the nest. After a few minutes, she moved to a branch. Meanwhile, at one point while she was at her nest I observed 2 Osprey flying about. Couldn’t get a picture of both, but one came back later and did get that picture.

02/03/2019 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: 1 osprey at the meeting site

08/09/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer Joanne V reports: No visible activity. We assume that the chicks have fledged.

07/25/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
Mary Alice T. (substitute observer) reports: One Osprey sitting on limb just to the right of the nest. Not making any noise, just resting. I couldn't tell if this is the fledgling or an adult cause I'm just not that familiar with them. To me, it looks like a fledgling because it looks smallish. (3 photos)

07/24/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V reports: Did one final check today before leaving tomorrow. No visible activity in nest or on tree, but did hear some peeps in distance, but couldn’t locate.

07/18/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
Joanne V. reports: Checked today on my nest. Only had cell, but you can see a darker, bigger osprey on a branch below the nest on the left, and a lighter colored brownish, smaller osprey on a branch above the nest all the way to the right. They both flew away, and clearly the wing span of the brownish one wasn’t as wide, but still a decent width. We have had difficulty monitoring the nestlings but feel pretty good that there were two nestlings and probably 2 fledglings. This is our best guess.

07/05/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer reports: Saw osprey flying near nest, but not close enough to get a really good picture. Could not see any osprey in the nest, but did hear peeps which suggested more than one osprey inside the nest. Really haven’t had any clear looks at offspring; just some “fuzzy” heads a couple weeks ago. Nearby neighbors reported to me they have heard lots of peeping all week, but they also have not seen babies.

06/30/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
Observer reports: While it is difficult to be sure, there may be a juvenile visible in the nest.

06/26/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer reports: on 6/26 it looked like the nest was a bit "misshapen".....possibly due to storm or wind damage in the past 10 days.

06/17/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer reports: no visible sign of activity in or around the nest this afternoon. Also, no peeping sounds heard.

06/10/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer reports: #5798 had no visible activity this morning

06/06/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer reports: Quickly checked the nest. Nothing visible, but now I know that there are times the mother is deep inside the cavity. I did think I heard peeping.

05/31/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
Observer reports that there are most likely two fuzzy heads in the nest, but she will continue to monitor to be certain. Our best guess is that they hatched about May 20...but that is a guess.

05/28/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer reports: After nearly 2 weeks of no visible activity, Mama is finally showing herself in the nest. Shortly after taking these pictures, she must have laid further down into the nest, because she was once again not visible. No sign of any babies yet, but at least I know now that this nest is indeed active. YAY!!

05/25/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer reports: Checked the nest about 9 this morning. Once again, no visible activity in the nest itself. An adult osprey was perched on branch opposite the nest ( the usual perching branch to the right of nest). Will continue to monitor.

05/21/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer reports that on 5/20 there was no nest activity. On the morning of 5/21 she returned and found an osprey perched on a branch near the nest but no visible activity in the nest. She wonders if the nest is a failure.

05/12/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observation made at 10:00AM: There was one Osprey who perched on a nearby limb, occasionally moving, but did not attempt to fly away. At one point there were several "peeps" that I hoped indicated some life inside the nest, but after almost an hour of watching, I saw no signs of movement in the nest.

05/06/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer reports: ). I was just about to leave, giving up hope of not seeing any activity when Mama flew back into her nest. Not long afterwards Papa perched on a branch near the nest. I met one of the owners nearby who said they are very active and noisy most every morning about 7AM.

05/02/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
no activity visible anywhere on the tree or the surrounding area. Where did they all go? I know now there are at least 3 that hang around the nested tree. I walked down around the lagoon. Still no sightings and no osprey sounds

04/28/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
observer reports: While watching these two, another osprey flew overhead, but never rested on the nesting tree. At first, I thought perhaps the one on the branch might have been one that hatched, but I think it's too big. It later flew off. Then mother, left the nest and rested onto a branch on the other side of the tree. She was still there when I left and there was no sign of the earlier one that flew off the branch. I did hear a lot of peeping about the nest, but could not see any bird other than the mother.

04/14/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
Mom was in nest in what appears to be incubating position.

03/28/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
Shortly after I arrived, she remained in her nest but was flapping her wings a lot. I kept hearing another osprey and then saw the 2nd one flying about. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get them both in same picture because "he?" wasn't flying close enough to the nest.

03/18/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
The osprey are still around the nest.

03/04/2018 by HHI Osprey Watch
