Nesting Diaries

Observed two Osprey flying around above this cell tower this morning. Have not seen perching on tower or nest building here yet.

I have seen Osprey adults perched on this tower in the past week. There continues to be no evidence of nestlings or fledglings that I have seen.

Significant amount of nesting material has fallen to lower platforms. There continues to be no Osprey seen in the area. American Crows and Turkey Vultures have taken over the tower as a regular perching location.

Have not seen an adult Osprey on the nest or in the area in the last two weeks. I pass by here almost daily. Will check a few more times before I mark it as abandoned. A significant amount of nesting material has fallen off of the nest onto lower platforms.

Viewing nest from sidewalk behind 7-11 parking lot. Nest is on top platform of the cell tower, one bird sitting on the edge reaching down inside nest tending to nestling(s). Quite a bit of nesting material is piled up on the middle and lower platforms as if it had blown down from the top platform.

Have been watching this nest site all season as I drive past here almost daily. I had seen a newly constructed nest and Osprey sometimes flying around the tower but unable to see if there was a bird incubating on the nest. On 5/17/23 I observed one Osprey perched on pole near nest while a second flew in with food that was delivered inside the nest and not to the adult bird perched nearby.
