One was incubating. Mate not seen. If this nest is going to succeed, it will likely be later in the season due to the late start and owl take-over.

One was incubating, the mate was not seen.

There was one osprey incubating in the nest. The mate never appeared and there was no other activity.

One osprey was in the nest incubating. Mate was not seen. Do ospreys pant when overheated?

Both were in nest, standing normally. Female flew to nearby tree and stayed there for watch.

03/16/2017 by MaryK
The male was perched in the nest and the female was eating a fish in a nearby tree. Some great horned owls from the original nest were perched close by, but this didn't seem to bother them.

Nest appears healthier and bigger, female osprey flew off from nest before I approached and the male stayed in a nearby tree. Neither returned to the nest while I was there.
