female alone near nest, calling softly for mate, hope she finds a new mate soon, she has not built up the nest this season, she needs her mate to do so
one consistently on fallen nest, snag, no signs the nest has been built up, appears just one osprey at this nest site. the bird is very quiet, no longer calling for mate
not alot to see due to the angle of the high snag nest but its obvious from the females behavior in the nest that she is eating in the nest and feeding with the male perched just above her on the branch.
one osprey very deep in the snag nest. the tree is shaped in such a way to create a deep nest that will make it difficult to see incubation as the nest continues to be shaped thru out this season. It took patience and time until I finally saw the white head pop up at the nest ridge. Did not see the second bird today.
Female was perched on the upper branch of the snag and male was deep in the nest today. I think both have been here for a few days but confirmed today.
this is the second osprey nesting season for a pair of osprey to claim the snag behind a home on canal way west. 2016 the pair just sat and discussed their plan for the new summer home :) This season they built a big nest but did not incubate eggs. I will check in on them in 2018 and see if they raise a family. there are numerous great blue heron nests very close to the osprey nest, in fact it is a well known heron rookery.
