Nesting Diaries
Christine B reports: This nest is gone
Based on the observations in June and at various times in July, we have concluded that something happened to this nest and there are no fledglings.
Christine B reports: No activity observed this day. I have checked on
this nest several days last week and there has been no activity.
Christine B reports: No activity
NOTE: We are concerned that something happened to the nestling causing the pair to abandon the nest. I seems unlikely that I missed the fledging since I am in that area a lot.
Christine B reports:
I observed this nest from 7:15 pm to 8:00pm. Again as I said in my last report .
I haven't a clue as to what happened to nest 7070. I am in that area morning noon and night and activity just abruptly stopped. I guess it is possible that I missed them fledge.
I did not see any activity in this time period.
Christine B reports: On my arrival to observe the nest, it looked empty but seconds later
one adult Osprey flew into the nest and was flapping her wings and hoping around in the nest as if she did not want to step on the little ones. About 5 minutes after her arrival one adult flew in with a fish and dropped it
into the nest. I heard what sounded like multiple chicks chirping . He took off
and returned with something small and at that moment I heard one chick chirping. They both settled down in the nest and the chirping ceased.
Christine B reports: Observed on May 10th and 17th 2020
No new behavior observed. One Osprey observed on both dates sitting
very low in the nest. I could barely see her head. I did not see her partner near by on these dates.
Christine B reports: The only activity I observed this AM was one adult Osprey
standing in the nest looking around and chirping . I did not see any other adult in the area.
NOTE: Based on this, we think hatching may have happened but May 1 is just a guess.
Christine B reports: Osprey nest # 7070 before the storm.
I have observed one adult Osprey either in the nest or on a branch perched beside the nest on these two days. No other type of activity observed.
Christine B reports: Osprey Nest# 7070 March 23, 2020
I observed today for the first time one Osprey sitting low in the nest.
I could only see her head. Her partner was on the edge of the nest
and as I was observing them both her partner took to fight, soared above the nest
then flew off.
NOTE: This description may indicate incubation has begun.
Christine B reports: 11:00AM I observed one Osprey sitting in the nest chirping and constantly looking in all directions. I have seen one Osprey in this nest or perched on a limb near the nest several times before this date. I have not observed two Osprey at this nest yet. My hope is I will be able to report on two Osprey at this nest soon.
Christine B reports: No activity observed at this nest.
Christine B reports: June 12th 13th 14th 15th
I have been observing this nest for 4 days in a row at different times AM and PM. I also have observed this nest prior to these dates and have not seen any signs of hatchlings. I have not seen an adult in the nest since
my last report. I will keep an eye on it but I am afraid that something happened and there will not be any offspring from this nest this year.

She sat down on her nest. At that point I could no longer see her.

No sighting of the other parent.
This appears to be a new nest, so we do not have data on the arrival of the adults. Incubation is probably underway. Since we do not know the start date, we are estimating it as early April.
Both parents were there. One flew away and one stayed and kept watch on a branch next to the nest.
