very happy to see this season actually be a successful one at this nest as it seems to fail due to so many kayakers getting right up to the nest, maybe covid kept people away

i guess I missed something because today the one osprey was back on the platform and appeared to be very deep incubating eggs, this may be a re-nest!

04/13/2019 by baygirl
confirmed snag nest behind marsh island platform is now the active nest site, male on platform preening and female deep in new nest incubating!

04/05/2019 by baygirl
non seen or heard today, i now see a new snag nest directly behind the platform, in a tree line on the mainland area, did not have my scope but with binos I could see something white in the nest, not an osprey

possible nest fail. one osprey, appeared to be female perched on pole across the waterway, second not seen, nest appears empty. Memorial Day weekend,May 27 at 1:30 pm the female was deep in the nest with the male perched in his fave high pine tree to the south. There were numerous paddle board and kayakers very close to the low platform. I was worried when I saw so much activity near the nest as well as there is no predator guard on the platform.

05/27/2018 by baygirl
female deep in the nest today around 1:30 as the male guarded from his fave pine tree to the south of the platform. there were numerous SUP and kayakers nearby and if they want they can go directly to the platform but no one did so today!

pair has a nice deep nest and continue to incubate

05/02/2018 by baygirl
1 osprey deep in nest appears to be incubating. nest is very fat now! second osprey, presumably the male flew off the power pole and took a few turns out over the channel and started hovering looking for fish.

04/29/2018 by baygirl
3 pm both ospr on nest facing into the WNW18 mph wind, one was picking deep in the nest

04/25/2018 by baygirl
both ospr observed at platform past few days and the male enjoys perching on the power line pole at the cul de sac next to a tree the great horned owl also enjoys perching in.

04/21/2018 by baygirl
@2:30 today male flew in with large stick. did not see female.

04/17/2018 by baygirl
nobody home at the nest around 10:15 this morning. one osprey was in a pine tree just south of the nest. appeared to be a male.

04/14/2018 by baygirl
pair continues to build up the nest. Neighbors say there is a great horn owl that sits in the nearby tree. This may explain the past years nest failure.

The male has been on the nest for about one week and bringing some nest material to a low platform on an island. The platform was empty of nest material at the start of the season. Today is first day I saw the female. both birds were on the nest around 5 pm and then the male flew straight to me at the cul de sac end of Victoria Dr. and he perched right in a pine tree over my head. I do not think the platform was occupied last year but I will check with the property owner across from the platform. The platform is light in weight and ow to the ground. It is an island but there are high trees very close to the nest site as well as it is a popular area for water recreation. There may be much disturbance so fingers crossed this pair is left alone to nest.
