Nesting Diaries
possible incubation, will check back tmr, was hard to see today
finally confirming 2 at this nest, may be harassed by nearby Salt Pond pairs
57, sun clouds E 10 mph, no ospreys on this nest but 3 ospreys tussling at NG#1
82, S 20 mph, sun. 4:25 one in nest
have not seen the chick past few days but my dates/timing could be way off so i will check back again but today i saw both adults in the trees above the empty nest
clearly see one chick at feeding time this afternoon approx 3pm,
seeing just one chick today
younger chicks n this nest, hard to get a good look but they appear to be about 5-6 weeks of age
have been seeing both adults on nest with some feeding behavior so today tried to get chick head count but unable to see any from distance of Bluecoast parking lot even with my scope, one adult was on nest rim looking into nest so I do think hatchlings still alive. might not get a count until the chicks get much bigger.
i can only confirm incubation past 2 days but might be earlier
possibly an incubating osprey in the nest... hard to see but one was very still on the nest today, i wish i would be there at the correct time to see the second ospr.
one fly to ad from nest today, the nest is looking good but i am not certain that this isnt just a hopeful male making a nice home for a possible suitor? i havent seen a second ospr
have only seen one osprey lately, today just one perched on platform, nest does not appear much bigger
old nesting platform had been placed in a wooded area next to running track, team osprey relocated platform out into marsh at request of the Natl Guard, osprey pair was nearby, lost their snag nest over the winter and quickly claimed this platform however i see bald eagles harassing them and so no new nest material has been added, but they do come and go to the platform
