fledgling only flying 2 days and this evening it was doing some impressive maneuvers over the marsh before landing on a snag with one adult watching and 3 mature bald eagles observing from their nest.
expecting chick to fledge first week of august. the bald eagle family is very closeby with one juvenile eagle remainiing at the nest so i can assume this family has many fish stolen, i am hoping this chick can fledge and thrive living in the shadow of a bald eagle family
if this pair was incubating they are not today, i saw both coming and going to the nest with at least one interloper causing a disturbance. and i finally saw where the bald eagles moved to, they are back at the tree line at north entrance to Collins Creek, an area I was told by locals they had nested in years before.
this pair was active at this prior large bald eagles nest at the end of the 2019 nesting season, the eagles attempted nesting early 2019 but moved, the 2018 season they had no eaglets and i suspect the construction disturbed them. this is a live tree that is slowly dying from top down. the nest should be very solid for this osprey pair, at least for 2020, and is high enough to keep human disturbance to the minimum, for osprey anyway!
