i observed chick feeding for about 5 days with the female feeding and then appearing to also continue incubating but around the july 4 holiday the female was off the nest

female laying in nest this evening, did not see mate and still not certain of hatchling

continuing to incubate and not bothered by the people on the nearby observation deck. this pair is just far enough away that the male has a good perch on a snag next to the platform and female is deep in nest. they seem to look in the opposite direction towards joshua and beach coves, NE

pair arrived last week and caused quite an uproar above the marsh along the Slough's Gut area. the old platform has not seen any serious nesting activity since I started monitoring in 2013, occasionally a single would dine there but now we have a new pair seriously building up the nest and adding some osprey energy to the large marsh. i hope they stay all summer and nest
