Located in NE corner of North Bay. Nesting plat form installed 15 to 20 years ago. Platform is in poor condition. Bank has eroded to within 1' of base, structure may topple within a year or two. Platform has been productive for at least the past 6 years.
Nesting platform mounted on pole lashed to existing pine tree. Installed approximately 10 years ago. Has been active for most if not all of its life.
Up date March 28, 2020 survey by BBNWR Society - nest platform deteriorating, platform located high in a tree, nearly inaccessible for repair. Nest still active with two osprey on nest.
One osprey showed up February 2012--the mate was lost last year. A female, I think, joined him in March. No eggs or babies spotted. But they looked healthy and where advid fishermen.
Up date March 28, 2020 - survey of this area by the BBNWR Society was unable to locate the nesting platform.
BBNWR Society surveyed this nesting platform via boat March 28, 2020, platform in good condition and two Osprey were on the nest, could not get close enough to get a good picture.
Nesting pole and platform installed roughly 2000, location East side of Northern portion of Long Island in Back Bay. Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge Society surveyed site March 28, 2020, noted two osprey on damaged nest. Later the same day the birds were gone, Society took this opportunity to repair the damaged platform and added predator guard.
Survey March 28, 2020 revealed that no nest platform exists at this location. Its possible that the old coordinates for this nest were in error and intended to be for 'North Bay 1' nest # 7430.
Nesting platform installed several years ago, discovered today behind tree line on edge of Mill Creek, stand leaning at 45 degrees, not occupied. Plan to inspect more closely later to see if it can be straightened up.
